Pearls & Oy-sters: Delayed traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage caused by cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.

چکیده
1. Intracerebral hemorrhage can follow an asymptomatic interval after a trauma and may be due to local or systemic coagulation abnormalities, necrosis of blood vessels in areas of brain injury, transient cerebral dysautoregulation, reduction of intracranial pressure either medically or surgically, or cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. 2. Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis may be easily overlooked by routine noncontrast head CT. Further vascular imaging should be considered in the context of unusual intracerebral hemorrhage, such as delayed hemorrhage in patients without predisposing factors.

Predictors of outcome in patients with cerebral venous thrombosis and intracerebral hemorrhage.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Although intracerebral hemorrhages are frequent in patients with cerebral venous thrombosis, and lead to worse outcome, predictors of outcome in cerebral venous thrombosis patients with intracerebral hemorrhages have never been evaluated in adequately powered studies. METHODS This study was conducted as a part of the International Study on Cerebral Vein and Dural Sinus ...

Role of surgery in cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.
Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) usually is taken care of by medical management or neuro-interventional vascular techniques. Some cases of CVST may take a malignant course if the intracranial pressure increases excessively. This increase in pressure is because of oedema in brain tissue due to impediment in venous return and/or intracerebral haemorrhage. Neurosurgical experience has shown...
